New Orleans, LA :: Cy & Lavada’s dream wedding was almost destroyed by Hurricane Isaac and it’s rampage through New Orleans just a couple days prior to the wedding day! It was really sad to see how much damage was done as we drove into the city, and you could tell ‘Big Easy’ still hadn’t recovered from Hurricane Katrina a few years earlier. But even more sad was learning that Lavada’s house had been completely destroyed by the flooding in her neighborhood. (Obviously there would never be ‘good timing‘ for this to happen, but seriously… the ‘timing‘ couldn’t be worse worse!?)

It was so uplifting to hear her talk of the wedding and her excitement to marry Cy even though there was much devastation all around them, and how the love they shared for each other was stronger then the problems that life ‘brings‘ us from time to time. It was hard for me to comprehend the mixed emotions they were dealing with, but reminded me how much I could learn from these wonderful people! too!

Although the wedding venue escaped any serious damage, there were many issues with the building, and we just thanked God the weather cleared up and the outdoor portraits (taken in the French Quarters) turned out so great. Let Cy & Lavada be an inspiration to us all when times are hard!
